Temporarily Closed - Now Offering Virtual Camps!

Just For Homeschoolers

Our 2019-2020 Homeschool Pass began on Monday, September 9!

The Homeschool pass will be extended 3 months due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

We know homeschoolers school all year long, however, we know one of the benefits of homeschooling is to be where the crowds are not. Get up close and personal with our STEM Educators and ask as many questions about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that your students can come up with!

We invite homeschool families to become Homeschool Pass Holders of the Children’s Science Center Lab and to be a part of our community of support that is dedicated to creating a world-class Children’s Science Center in our region.  A Homeschool Pass gives your family access to fun, hands-on and educational activities focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), Monday through Thursday, 10 am – 6pm, September 9, 2019, through May 21, 2020. To become a Homeschool Pass Holder, stop by the Children’s Science Center Lab, call (703) 648-3130, and present your Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) Card or paperwork stating all homeschool requirements of the state have been met.  Any questions, please send an email to membership@childsci.org.

For only $99, this pass comes with admission benefits for the entire homeschool family, including two parents and all children living in the same household.  Passes are not transferable among families or children living in another household.  The Homeschool Pass does not offer the same benefits as a Base Family Membership.  Some restrictions apply.

STEM Enrichment Series

Supplemental Science

Join the Children's Science Center Lab for our STEM Enrichment Series, a 6-week program designed for 3rd through 5th grade students to apply concepts they learn in school to project-based challenges using critical thinking, research, and data sharing. This program is offered every Monday, perfect for those asynchronous days.

This online, limited capacity series begins on Monday, September 14 and runs through October 26th with an optional "Fun Day" on Monday, October 12 (Indigenous Peoples' Day and school holiday).

Our program reinforces Virginia State Science Standards of Learning (SOLs) through exciting demonstrations, hands-on experiments, engineering projects, and group discussion!  This series was specifically developed to keep kids on track with science through distance learning.

Students receive a STEM Enrichment kit that includes materials for each daily STEM challenge, a science notebook to record observations, step-by-step instructions to complete each challenge, and more!  Kits will be available for pick up September 11 and 12 at the Children's Science Center Lab. Each child must be registered individually and have their own screen. A sibling discount is offered. Member discounts are applied at checkout.

STEM Enrichment Series II will be starting on Monday, November 9 through December 14. Registration coming soon!
