We know homeschoolers school all year long, however, we know one of the benefits of homeschooling is to be where the crowds are not. Get up close and personal with our STEM Educators and ask as many questions about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that your students can come up with!
We invite homeschool families to become Homeschool Pass Holders of the Children’s Science Center Lab and to be a part of our community of support that is dedicated to creating a world-class Children’s Science Center in our region. A Homeschool Pass gives your family access to fun, hands-on and educational activities focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), Monday through Thursday, 10 am – 6pm, September 9, 2019, through May 21, 2020. To become a Homeschool Pass Holder, stop by the Children’s Science Center Lab, call (703) 648-3130, and present your Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) Card or paperwork stating all homeschool requirements of the state have been met. Any questions, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For only $99, this pass comes with admission benefits for the entire homeschool family, including two parents and all children living in the same household. Passes are not transferable among families or children living in another household. The Homeschool Pass does not offer the same benefits as a Base Family Membership. Some restrictions apply.
Join us for a week of STEM-filled fun with our virtual spring break camps! Stay safe and connected with our two fun themes!
Campers will receive a kit full of supplies for hands-on fun! Each kit will have all the materials necessary for the camp activities, along with additional fun activities and games to try on your own.
Camps are designed for children in grades 2 - 6, and are offered Mon-Fri, morning and afternoon. Both camps consist of three hours of a structured Zoom session with fun science games, hands-on activities and an exciting science demonstration, animal encounter, or behind-the-scenes look at the Lab! Led by our experienced STEM educators, each camper will have a kit full of supplies for hands-on fun through out the week which can be safely picked up curbside.
Kits will be available for pick-up on Saturday March 20th and 27th from 10am-12pm.

We are excited to announce that the Children's Science Center will be offering both in-person and virtual summer camps to meet the needs of the community.
It is our goal to have all staff members at the Lab and serving our campers vaccinated before the summer camp season. We recognize that the pandemic has brought on many challenges and therefore we are offering a generous cancellation and refund policy this summer. If for any reason the Children’s Science Center cancels an in-person camp or the camper needs to cancel due to Covid-19, we are happy to issue a full refund. We will continue to follow safety protocols and take extra measures to ensure a successful camp season. Our staff will be wearing masks and we ask that campers wear masks except when eating or drinking. The Children’s Science Center Lab will NOT be open to the general public when camps are in session to maintain the safety of all campers and staff. As a result, campers will enjoy the entire Lab to themselves!
Virtual camps will also be offered as an alternative for those who prefer to stay at home. These camps will not be affected by vaccination roll-out.
Every Wednesday in February and March, join the Children’s Science Center for a hands-on and interactive tinker’s workshop! This after school club will focus on the engineering design process with a different fun build project each week. Explore the world of tinkering by creating designs using any materials you can find around your home!
This program is recommended for grades 1 – 5. Siblings and caretakers are welcome; adult supervision is not necessary. The cost for each week is $15 for a shared screen. Join each week or drop in when you can!
The Children's Science Center will bring science to you! Our mobile science show, Science on the Go, is available Monday through Friday. The Children's Science Center will provide 45 minutes of interactive science demonstrations and chemistry experiments and a whole lot of energy and fun! This is perfect for your learning pod, neighborhood friends, community centers, church groups, and homeschoolers!
You provide the kids and the backyard, cul-de-sac, or community center, and we'll provide the fun!
