As we look toward the 2021-22 school year, the safety of the school community and the Children’s Science Center staff are the most important. We know that guidelines from our state officials and the CDC can change at any moment. Therefore, we’re preparing to offer both virtual and in-school options.
The Family Science Night application is open and will close on May 21, 2021. The application includes a section on a school’s choice for an in-school or virtual Family Science Night. Due to the high demand for this program, schools are selected through a blind drawing. Once selected, the school must return a signed
Family Science Night agreement confirming compliance with all school obligations.
The one-hour, LIVE, interactive Virtual Family Science Night is designed for administrators and teachers to connect the school community, excite participants about STEM, and engage students and their families in interactive fun. The Children’s Science Center has mastered the traditional in-person Family Science Night program which involves volunteer management, advertising, and transporting STEM activities to your school. This 90-minute event takes place in the school gym or cafeteria where we set up 12 hands-on activities for students and their families to move freely between at their leisure. Activities are most appropriate for families and children in grades K-6. Children’s Science Center is making STEM tangible and exciting for our students, which will better prepare them for the workforce of the future.
The in-school Family Science Night accommodates up to 350 people although the room size will determine the largest attendance possible for any given school. Cost: $750 (with Title 1 schools receiving the event at no cost)
The Children’s Science Center’s Family Science Night program will be accepting applications for the 2021-2022 academic year beginning March 15, 2021 through May 21, 2021.
