Science On The Go

Let the Lab bring the field trip to you this summer! Science on the Go offers elementary aged children a fun, interactive science related program facilitated at your organization.

Science on the Go is a one-hour program offered Tuesdays through Fridays during the summer. Each one-hour session is led by 2 STEM Educators at your location. The cost is $450 for one session for up to 30 students, and includes all materials needed for the activity. If you have more than 30 students, reserve a second session for the same date at a reduced price of $400.

Field Trips

Field Trips are available Mondays through Fridays during the school year. They are designed for Pre-K to 6th grade levels in elementary school classes, day schools, homeschool groups, learning pods, and other educational organizations that desire a structured itinerary.

In-person field trips include up to 100 students at $13 per student and parent-chaperones. Students will explore 4 experience areas throughout the Children’s Science Center Lab.


The Field Trip program is currently sold out for the 2024-25 school year.

Science on the Go

The Children's Science Center Lab will bring field trips to your location! Our Science on the Go program is available Monday through Friday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Instead of bringing your students to the Lab, we will bring the Lab and two STEM Educators to your organization.

This one-hour program is for up to 30 students per session.

Family Science Night

The Children’s Science Center’s Family Science Night Program offers interactive and engaging activities designed to excite students and their families about STEM. Family Science Night combines science learning and family bonding within the school community.

Family Science Nights are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm from September through April.

Science on Screen or Stage

This interactive science show is 45 minutes full of color and exciting demonstrations designed to provide children with a fun and engaging way to learn about chemistry, states of matter, chemical properties, and reactions.

  • Available Monday through Friday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.

  • Science on Stage (in-person) is $750 for one show; $1150 for two shows on the same day.

  • Science on Screen (virtual) is $275 for one show.

  • Designed for the entire school, any grade level for an assembly stage show, or 100 screens

STEM Enrichment Series

This program was created in conjunction with ChildSci STEM Educators, a STEM Education Professor at George Mason University, and local public school 5th grade teachers to identify specific topics of struggle for students in the Virginia Science Standards of Learning. The hands-on activities and experiments in the program will give students experience with topics they see on their standardized testing in a fun and interactive way.

This series program can be done in anywhere from 4-7 weeks with 7 NGSS/SOL themes to select at the time of the reservation.  Themes include Sound, Light, Friction & Force, the Solar System, Plant Systems, Geology & Rock Cycles, and Electricity & Matter. Each class lasts one hour for up to 30 students at a time.

Cost:  $600 (for 4 in-person NGSS/SOL themes per class of 30 students); $400 for 4 virtual NGSS/SOL themes; $100 each additional NGSS/SOL theme (in-school or virtual).

STEM Chicas

STEM Chicas is an 8-week series of STEM-focused classes offered specifically for Latina students in grades 3-6 through a partnership with local Title I elementary schools.
